FAQ
Questions, answered properly.
Including the ones with uncomfortable answers. If something here reads as less optimistic than a competitor’s FAQ, that is deliberate.
Legality & risk
Is buying a YouTube channel legal in India?
Yes. There is no Indian law preventing the sale of a YouTube channel, and YouTube itself does not prohibit ownership changes. What is not permitted is transferring the seller’s AdSense account — Google’s terms bar that specifically. A compliant sale moves the channel to your Google account and links your own AdSense, which is exactly how we run every deal.
Will YouTube terminate a channel because it was sold?
Not for the sale itself. Channels are terminated for policy violations — repeated copyright strikes, spam, or content that breaches community guidelines. Risk rises if the transfer is done badly (password sharing, AdSense handover) or if the channel already had problems. We check the policy record before listing and again immediately before transfer.
Do I need to disclose the purchase to YouTube?
No disclosure process exists for channel ownership changes. You do need to complete YouTube’s standard monetisation and identity verification under your own details once the channel is in your account.
What are the tax implications?
A channel sale is generally treated as a transfer of a capital asset, and ongoing ad revenue is taxable income. Rates and treatment depend on your circumstances. We are not tax advisers — speak to a chartered accountant before a significant transaction.
Buying
Why do you show prices when nobody else does?
Because hiding the price is a negotiating tactic, not a service. When you have to ask, the number can move based on how eager you sound and how much budget you let slip. Publishing every price means you can compare listings against each other, and against us — which is the whole point of a marketplace.
Can I verify the numbers before paying?
Yes, and you should. We provide a screen-recorded YouTube Studio walkthrough, then set up a live call where the seller shares their screen and you direct where they navigate. Live verification is what catches edited screenshots.
How long does the whole process take?
Roughly 10 to 14 days. Verification takes one to two days, escrow funding is same-day, and Google enforces a 7-day waiting period before a Manager can be promoted to channel Owner. Anyone quoting you 24 hours is describing a password handover, not a real transfer.
What happens if the transfer fails?
Escrow returns your money in full. That covers a seller withdrawing, a Google account restriction, or any technical barrier to transfer. You are not left chasing anyone.
Will the channel keep earning what the listing says?
We cannot promise that, and neither can anyone else honestly. Revenue depends on continuing to publish content the audience wants. Channels commonly dip after a handover while the new owner finds their rhythm. Treat the listed revenue as a verified starting point, not a guaranteed annuity.
Do I have to use WhatsApp?
No. WhatsApp is the fastest way to reach us and most Indian buyers prefer it, but email works equally well — hello@buyyoutubechannel.store. Nothing on this site is gated behind starting a WhatsApp chat.
Selling
What does it cost to list?
Nothing. There is no listing fee and no monthly charge. We take 8% of the sale price, and only when a sale actually completes.
Will buyers see my channel name?
Not publicly. Listings show metrics and a generic description — subscriber count, watch hours, revenue, niche. Your channel identity is disclosed only to a buyer who has been verified and has agreed to confidentiality.
How is my channel valued?
Monthly revenue multiplied by a niche multiple, adjusted for traffic durability, channel age and policy record. Our multiples are published on the valuation page — we do not hide the method.
How quickly do I get paid?
Within 48 hours of the buyer confirming they have full ownership. Payout goes out by UPI or bank transfer.
Can I sell a channel that is not monetized?
Yes. There is real demand for aged handles and channels that have already crossed the watch-hour threshold. They price on audience and age rather than earnings, and typically sell for less — but they do sell.
Transfers & AdSense
Can I just take over the seller’s AdSense account?
No, and you should refuse if it is offered. Google prohibits AdSense account transfers. An account used this way can be terminated, taking your earnings with it, and you would have no recourse. The correct process is to link your own AdSense after taking channel ownership.
Does monetization survive the transfer?
Yes. Monetisation status attaches to the channel, not to the AdSense account behind it. Once you link your own AdSense, revenue routes to you from the next payment threshold. There is no re-application.
What is the 7-day waiting period?
Google requires an account to be a Manager on a Brand Account for 7 days before it can be promoted to Primary Owner. It cannot be skipped or expedited. We build it into every timeline rather than pretending it does not exist.
What if the seller still has access after transfer?
They should not, and we verify the access list is clean as part of handover. You confirm this independently before escrow releases — if anyone else still has access, the money does not move.
